Bortolomiol celebrates the 100th anniversary of the founder’s birth and reaffirms his visionary spirit. His dream was to make Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore known all over the world

One hundred years have passed since Giuliano Bortolomiol was born in Valdobbiadene: a name that would leave an important mark in the history of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Docg. 

After attending the Scuola Enologica di Conegliano, Giuliano decided to stay in his homeland to rebuild what the war had destroyed. And he decided to do it through wine. 

Giuliano was one of the founding members of the Consorzio di Tutela and, at a time when Extra Dry and Dry versions were widely favored, he was the first to believe that the best expression of Prosecco Superiore was the Brut version, characterized by extremely low levels of sugar.

THE CENTENARY WINE TOUR 

Giuliano was a true pioneer, and the winery honors him in an equally innovative way with the Centenary Tour.

At the Parco della Filandetta – Wine&Art Farm Bortolomiol will show “the other side” of Prosecco Superiore DOCG to wine lovers and professionals: the face of a long-lived wine that can withstand time and develop increasingly complex notes. This year, wine lovers can book a special guided tasting of 5 vintages of the Grande Cuvée del Fondatore – Motus Vitae Valdobbiadene DOCG Prosecco Superiore Rive di San Pietro di Barbozza. An exceptional vertical tasting of various vintages from 2016 to 2020.

Celebrations will continue in May with the second Artist Home at Parco della Filandetta: an ode to nature, women and their sensitivity for art. Giuliano's legacy was embraced by his wife Ottavia and their daughters Maria Elena, Elvira, Giuliana and Luisa who have brought new energy to the winery’s heritage by adopting increasingly sustainable production processes and promoting the territory, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

A result of this sustainable choice is the construction of the first organic vineyard at Parco della Filandetta, which yields the organic Ius Naturae Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Docg.
