In the early 1960s, Umberto Cesari purchased 20 hectares of vineyards and began the challenge of a lifetime: to make Sangiovese an excellent wine, loved throughout the world.
Umberto Cesari was among the first in Emilia Romagna to focus on this grape variety and the typical varieties of the region, capable of producing extraordinary grapes, such as Albana di Romagna, Trebbiano and Pignoletto, to which important international varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc have been added over time.
The company currently includes 12 Estates in the hilly area between Castel San Pietro Terme and Montecatone di Imola, all managed according to the dictates of sustainable viticulture. Currently, 30% of the vineyards are converted to organic.
Umberto Cesari has shaped a production process that blends human expertise with cutting-edge technology. Every stage – from vineyard to cellar – takes place within the estate, following a short supply chain overseen entirely by the winery’s skilled team. This approach ensures full control over production while honoring tradition, guaranteeing consistently high-quality wines.
The search for quality without compromise, tireless work, attention to detail, passion for research and innovation are part of the daily work of Umberto Cesari and have always been a source of inspiration.

COSTA DI ROSE
Costa di Rose is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes. After harvest, the grapes are gently pressed, then the juice is clarified by gravity and the must ferments at a low temperature. The wine matures for 6 months in steel.
A versatile wine with a unique taste, fresh with a distinct personality, a testament to the love of Sangiovese; a young and contemporary interpretation that is the result of relentless research. Costa di Rose fills the glass with a vibrant antique pink with peach highlights. The nose shows a delicious bouquet of red fruits, with wild strawberries, cherries, pomegranate and raspberries in the foreground. On the palate, this rosé is savory and elegant, balanced by a refreshing acidity that makes it a sophisticated and approachable choice. The label, where Tiffany blue stripes alternate with white, draws inspiration from the summery atmospheres of 1950s iconography and La Dolce Vita!
The perfect match
Costa di Rose is best enjoyed chilled at 8-10° and is perfect as an aperitif but goes wonderfully with smoked salmon, sushi and in any case with all fish dishes, vegetable dishes and even pizza.
Gambero Rosso-suggested recipe: Marinated fillet in soy and teriyaki sauce with giardiniera paired with tartar sauce and herbs.
Costa di Rose is the ideal base for summer cocktails: Costa Mule, Costa Paloma and Costa Club. Summer in a glass!
