For over six centuries, Mazzei family has dedicated itself to winemaking, with a passion and commitment that have been handed down from one generation to the next.
Castello di Fonterutoli, owned by the Mazzei family since 1435, is located in the southern part of the Chianti Classico region, near Siena. The estate covers a total surface of 650 hectares, 110 of which are vineyards divided into seven zones. The centuries-old knowledge of our terroir, combine with a forty years of research, has led us to select 36 biotypes of Sangiovese, some of which are exclusive property of Castello di Fonterutoli, making us a unique winery within the Chianti Classico area.
Nestled in the enchanting historic village of Fonterutoli, one of the most evocative spots of Tuscany, we welcome our guests in an authentic environment rich in winemaking tradition. A visit to the author’s cellar, part of the Tuscan Wine Architecture association, the tasting of the prestigious wines, the Rooms & Suites renovated in full resect of the elegance of the Tuscan style, and the authentic cuisine of the Osteria of Fonterutoli, allow our guests to fully immerse themselves in the Chianti Classico for an unforgettable stay.
